Upcycling: gold leaf pitcher

I recently gave this pitcher a second chance. The pitcher was sitting in a cupboard because the colors didn’t match my décor.

Here’s the original pitcher.

I covered the pitcher in several light coats of Heirloom White spray paint. Once it was dry I laid cuttings of fern leaves on the pitcher and lightly spray painted around the leaves in gold.

Once the fern leaves were removed, I had a nice negative print of the leaves.
The best part… if I get tired of this look, I can spray paint it a different color.

  4. I love spraypaint. This is a great example of its power! The pitcher had a great shape, but I can understand why you wanted to change it! Adding the leaf images is a soft and lovely detail. Beautiful.

  5. ugh, what a terrible "before decor"! Reminds me of good old Yugoslavian communist style... help me Rhonda, it was awful. Love your whimsical new look, using fern is a total winner! Even though I think if I was to recreate this (and I jolly well might!) I would invert the colours and cover the whole thing with the base colour.
Gotta find myself a cue- gly pitcher now!

  12. The jug looks fantastic. I love how it ended up, certainly heaps nicer than the original. And I like the idea of being able to change it if you decide you've had enough.
