Sew & Tell: needle felted penguin

Have you ever tried needle felting? This is something that I’ve been wanting to try for awhile but I never got around to. Thanks to EK Success Brands, I was able to make this little penguin fairly easily.

Penguin 6Dimensions, an EK Success Brand company, has these great needle felting kits. They come with everything you need to create a little ornament or fuzzy friend.

You start with a ball of the wool and push the special barbed needle into it over and over. The handy templates guide you to make the shapes. This isn’t a quick project. The felting takes a little time and you need to continue to felt the pieces into the shapes. Also, I wouldn’t recommend watching TV while felting. Trust me, one or three jabs with the needle into your finger will teach you. Some nice music while you’re making this is a much better idea!

Once you have all your felted pieces, you needle felt them together. No gluing or sewing. Punch, punch, punch with the needle and the wool is held together.

Here are some of the wonderful Handmade Holiday projects available from the EK Success Brands.

Bold and jolly whimsy!

Traditional holiday charm!

Penguin 7I had so much fun making this funny little penguin. Once we get our tree, I’ll be adding an ornament hook so we can enjoy him year after year.

I was provided with supplies from EK Success Brands to create this project. No other compensation was received. All opinions are mine.

  1. Carolyn, how cute is this! So adorable! There is Linda over at
http://craftgossip.com/suggest-a-link/ who needs to see this. She features felting crafts and this would be perfect on her site.
